Doula Services
It is often recommended that clients hire a Doula at around 28-30 weeks, but I welcome clients at all points in pregnancy because there are many points in your 40 week journey where you could potentially need additional support. I have started client work as early as 8 weeks and as late as 32 weeks. Below is a brief summary of what my standard Doula Services entail.
3 Prenatal Visits:
1st Visit will include a review or assistance in developing your birth plan. This will be the opportunity for you to ask questions about the experience of labor and voice any concerns you may have. This is a time for us to put everything on the table so we can construct the best care plan for you and your labor.
2nd Visit will include finalizing your birth plan as well as reviewing needs for postpartum care. We will discuss pain management strategies, do’s and don'ts of your labor experience and make sure that you are confident and assured of what you want and need for your labor and postpartum experience.
3rd Visit will include a final review of your birth plan, pain management strategies, and assistance on packing bags for the hospital/birth center, home preparation if having a home birth, and home preparation to maximize efficiency for parents during postpartum.
24/7 Labor & Delivery On Call Support:
Babies are on their own schedule, and always arrive when the time is right. For 3 weeks ahead of your due date I will be on call to support any questions, concerns, or labor scares. Yes that means even in the middle of the night! Even if labor begins before the 37 week mark, please contact me and I will do my best to make myself available.
Labor & Birth Support:
This is the BIG SHOW, and my favorite part of the process. I will attend your birth. Offer physical, emotional and mental support. I am your personal birth cheerleader. I will advocate for the preferences outlined in your Birth Plan, help you cope with the physical and emotional discomfort through words of encouragement, massage, and making sure you feel heard and respected by your team. I even support partner’s in feeling involved who may otherwise feel afraid or left out. My goal for all births is that they are SAFE and effective. I will recommend varying positions that support birth and fetal positioning based on my training and evidence based studies.
Postpartum Care:
We will have 3 Postpartum Visits. This will allow me to see how you are adjusting to being a new parent, provide additional resources, lactation support, and overall just making sure you get the support you need. I am here to support my clients for the minimum of the first 60 days after labor.
